Experteer Overview In this role you will serve as a clinical leader, delivering comprehensive psychiatric care in an inpatient forensic and civil commitment setting. You’ll head the multidisciplinary treatment team to develop recovery-oriented plans and ensure high standards of safety and quality. The position blends direct patient care with teaching, supervision, and participation in quality initiatives that advance organizational excellence. Compensation / Benefits • Provide comprehensive psychiatric care including assessments, psychopharmacology, and individual/group/family psychotherapy • Conduct interviews, education, informed consent, and maintain accurate clinical documentation • Lead the Treatment Team as Head of the Team to develop and implement individualized plans • Supervise interdisciplinary staff and oversee milieu therapy and family-focused clinical supervision • Review and approve treatment plans and orders; provide oversight and consultation to PMHNPs • Coordinate discharge planning and liaise with community mental health centers and external agencies • Provide cross-coverage for other units and staff-on-duty coverage • Participate in Medical Staff meetings, hospital committees, and quality improvement activities • Supervise residents and medical students and contribute to hospital-wide performance initiatives Tasks • Medical degree and completion of an ACGME-approved psychiatry residency • Unrestricted medical license in Virginia or ability to obtain one • Current DEA registration or ability to obtain • Extensive psychiatric knowledge with strong clinical skills in acute forensic, civilly committed units or psychosocial rehabilitation • Proven ability to lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team • Strong administrative skills for collaboration with hospital units and external agencies • Ability to complete CMS documentation requirements on time • EHR experience with Cerner (additional considerations) • Experience in teaching and supervision of medical trainees • Previous work in state hospitals; forensic or addiction fellowships; bilingual; board certification; veteran status • Special Instructions: prior authorization or documentation as required by hiring process Key requirements • Relocation reimbursement • Sign-on bonus • Retention bonus • Health, vision, and dental insurance • Retirement with cash match • 13 paid holidays
