POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Outreach is an execution-focused leadership role responsible for high-volume outreach and relationship development that drives measurable referral growth and client conversion for SCCS. This role requires an established professional network and demonstrated success opening doors with hospitals, large pediatric groups, school districts, and community agencies across San Bernardino County, Orange County, Riverside County, and Los Angeles County.

The Director of Outreach is accountable for consistently executing outreach activities, establishing and maintaining referral partnerships, scheduling presentations and appointments, and delivering measurable results tied to referrals and conversion to active clients. The Director of Outreach schedules and coordinates presentations, Lunch & Learns, and partner meetings and will work closely with the Chief Marketing & Development Officer, who will conduct presentations and/or share presentation responsibilities depending on audience and purpose.


GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience

  • A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in outreach, provider relations, healthcare business development, or community engagement is required, with demonstrated success building relationships within complex healthcare, education, or social service systems. 
  • An established network of contacts within hospitals, large pediatric groups, school districts, and community agencies across San Bernardino County, Orange County, Riverside County, and Los Angeles County is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates must demonstrate the ability to operate independently in a field-based role, execute high-volume outreach consistently, manage multiple relationships simultaneously, and deliver measurable growth outcomes. Experience in behavioral health, healthcare services, education systems, or community-based social services is strongly preferred.

Licensure, Registration, Certification

  1. Valid CA driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.


JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily outreach through a high-volume mix of phone calls, targeted emails, and in-person visits to build and sustain referral relationships and partnership pipelines. 
  • Primary external relationship-builder, developing, managing, and expanding referral partnerships with hospitals and healthcare systems, large pediatric and specialty medical groups, school districts and education agencies, and community-based organizations.
  • Proactively identifies and secures meetings with decision-makers and influencers, including hospital social work and care management leadership, pediatric practice administrators, district leaders, and community organization executives. 
  • Schedules and coordinates Lunch & Learns, informational meetings, and presentations by confirming appropriate audiences, managing logistics, preparing objectives and context, and ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Develops and strengthens partnerships that support embedded service pathways, including cultivating relationships where clinicians (e.g., LCSWs) can be embedded on-site or integrated into hospital and large pediatric group settings on a recurring basis (e.g., two days per week) to provide immediate behavioral health support. 
  • Collaborates closely with the Chief Marketing & Development Officer and internal leaders to align operational expectations, referral workflows, intake handoffs, and reporting cadence to ensure these partnerships produce client access and measurable outcomes.
  • Tracks outreach activity and outcomes with discipline and consistency, including contacts made, meetings scheduled, partnerships initiated, referrals generated, and referrals converted to active clients. 
  • Works closely with Intake leadership to ensure outreach-generated referrals are followed up promptly and effectively and adjusts outreach focus based on referral quality, conversion data, and program capacity. 
  • Collaborates with Marketing & Brand ensures consistent use of approved messaging and materials, and coordination with internal stakeholders ensures outreach commitments align with agency services and capacity.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle without restrictions, often in heavy traffic and frequently long distances.
  • Senses of vision, hearing and smell sufficient to regularly operate a motor vehicle, to visualize threats in the environment to operate safely in the field.
  • Required to occasionally lift and carry 10-20 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit and use computer in office settings.
