General Responsibilities

The Social Worker is an integral part of the team at JASAChat and will serve as a thought partner with the program director. Primary responsibilities include supporting client and volunteer matches enrolled in our virtual visiting program which aims to decrease social isolation and loneliness. The social worker will ensure that matches are mutually beneficial and satisfying to all participants. The social worker will also provide case assistance to clients enrolled in the program and follow-up on needs identified throughout their participation in this program. The social worker will work collaboratively with the program staff and JASA’s development team to ensure optimal experiences for volunteers and program participants. The social worker will partner with service providers across the agency to enroll, match, and support clients in JASAChat. The social worker will be available for in person and virtual outreach and partner meetings as needed, and will represent the JASAChat program in community events. The social worker will also help lead volunteer trainings on a monthly basis, with potential other trainings and workshops available to our volunteers throughout the year.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Engage, enroll and provide case assistance to JASA client participants.
  • Conduct pre and post surveys to client participants.
  • Support matches by providing case assistance, mediation, and resources.
  • Document match records in electronic client record system.
  • Engage and support multigenerational volunteers.
  • Plan and facilitate match engagement events and projects.
  • Represent the program at internal and external events, becoming the spokesperson for its value, need, and success
  • Perform other tasks as requested or assigned

Qualifications

  • MSW degree from an accredited university
  • Professional experience relevant to working with an older adult population including memory impaired older adults and/or their caregivers.
  • Experience in program development, data reporting and analytics is a plus.
  • Desire and ability to work collaboratively as part of a committed, integrated team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and concisely (both in writing and orally)
  • Professional maturity, good judgment and ability to engage with others
  • Strong commitment to JASA’s mission
  • Basic computer skills; familiarity with an electronic client record system preferred
  • Ability to travel using mass transit
  • An understanding and appreciation of the roles of race, religion, ethnicity, sexual preference, and individual values as they relate to serving clients
