Licensed Psychotherapist (LP, LPCC, LICSW, LMFT)
Independent Contractor (1099)
Dr. Brecke Counseling Group
Eagan, MN | Hybrid: In-Person & Telehealth
Compensation Range: Approximately $105,000–$140,000 annually, based on caseload and fee split
About the Opportunity
This is a rare opening at Dr. Brecke Counseling Group. Our practice is in high demand, and we are seeking a fully licensed behavioral health clinician who is interested in building a long-term professional home (ideally 2+ years).
We are a small, supportive group practice that prioritizes quality clinical work, autonomy, and sustainability. Our goal is to create a setting where clinicians can do meaningful work, feel fairly compensated, and still have energy left for their lives outside of work.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a fully licensed Minnesota clinician, including:
- Licensed Psychologist (LP)
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
- Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
We especially welcome clinicians with experience or interest in:
- Couples work
- Children and adolescents
- Trauma-focused care
- Addiction
- Eating disorders
- Personality disorders (including BPD)
- Afternoon and evening availability
We also value and actively welcome diversity in identities, backgrounds, and clinical perspectives.
Compensation & Structure
- Contract type: Fee-split independent contractor (1099)
- Fee split: Up to 72/28, based on gross receivables per pay period
Estimated Annual Income (example):
- Master’s-level clinician seeing ~20 sessions/week (90837, ~3 weeks off/year): ~$105,000
- Doctoral-level clinician seeing ~20 sessions/week (90837, ~3 weeks off/year): ~$137,000
Average take-home per 90837 session:
- Master’s level: ~$105
- Doctoral level: ~$140
We maintain a 97%+ collection rate due to:
- In-house billing with a dedicated billing specialist
- Clear, values-aligned clinic policies
- Consistent insurance verification
- Credit card on file and routine account follow-up
- Transparent, respectful communication with clients
Most importantly, clients value the care they receive and are willing to invest in their treatment.
Schedule & Work Model
- Minimum desired caseload: 18+ clinical hours per week
- This role is best suited for clinicians who want to build a steady, meaningful caseload.
- Seeing fewer than ~15 clients/week is typically not a good financial fit due to the fee-split structure.
Hybrid model:
- In-person and telehealth options available
- Office days are flexible
- Telehealth from home is supported
- Fully remote may be possible in the future, depending on client demand and clinic needs
Client access needs:
- Clinicians are asked to offer some availability after 3pm or before 9am to meet demand from working professionals.
You choose your schedule and client mix. This is your private practice, with administrative and collegial support.
What We Offer
As a contractor with Dr. Brecke Counseling Group, you receive:
- High-quality referrals (we currently have a waitlist)
- In-house billing and claims support
- EHR and electronic billing
- Furnished private office space with:
- Natural light
- High ceilings
- Warm décor
- Plants
- Sound privacy
- Marketing and onboarding support
- A collaborative, professional, and kind team
- Optional monthly consultation or social gatherings
It’s private practice — without doing everything alone.
We intentionally avoid contracting with low-paying insurance panels in order to protect clinician compensation and professional integrity.
Important Considerations
This is a 1099 independent contractor role and does not include traditional employer-provided benefits.
Many clinicians find that the higher income potential and fee split more than offset the cost of purchasing individual benefits. We’re happy to share what has worked well for other contractors.
This role is a strong fit for clinicians who:
- Value autonomy and flexibility
- Are self-directed and motivated
- Prefer minimal micromanagement
- Want their income to reflect their effort and clinical skill
- Appreciate a supportive but non-intrusive group practice
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient therapy (individual, couples, and/or families)
- Complete diagnostic assessments and treatment planning
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
- Coordinate care when clinically appropriate
- Practice ethically and within all licensure and clinic guidelines
Clinicians practice independently under their own license and LLC while benefiting from a group practice structure.
Requirements
- Fully licensed in Minnesota (LP, LPCC, LICSW, or LMFT)
- Minimum 2–4 years of post-licensure experience
- Credentialed or credentialable with major insurers (e.g., HealthPartners, BCBS, Cigna, Aetna, Medica, UCare, UHG/UBH, etc.)
- Comfortable working independently and managing a caseload
- Willing to offer some early morning or late afternoon/evening sessions
Location
Our office is located in Eagan, MN, near 35E and Yankee Doodle Road:
- ~10 minutes from St. Paul
