The Social Worker position will be responsible for the delivery of case management services to children and families in our Foster Care programs.

SPRITUAL EXPECTATIONS

Salvation

Must have a personal salvation experience with Jesus Christ.

  • Must have a sense of commitment to the ministry of children and families and an attitude of humble, Christlike serving.
  • Must exhibit behavior consistent with God’s Word and a commitment to Jesus Christ.

Discipleship

  • Should have a sincere desire to seek God, make disciples, and build His kingdom.

Church and Witness

  • Must be an active member of a local New Testament church.
  • If all other factors are equal, preference will be given to Baptist candidates in both hiring and job advancement opportunities.

Theology

  • Must accept The Baptist Faith and Message and should be familiar with the general theological beliefs of Southern Baptists.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Recruit, license, train, and supervise foster homes.
  • Coordinate intake, orientation, and admission of children/families into assigned program.
  • Assess information about children’s developmental/family history.
  • Make referrals to other community resources when appropriate.
  • Evaluate the needs of children and families.
  • Facilitate planning meetings, IEPs, and ISPs.
  • Develop and implement a Case Plan for every child.
  • Evaluate progress of children/families in care and foster families.
  • Obtain individual, group, or family counseling as needed.
  • Maintain case records in an updated and efficient manner utilizing approved forms, processes, and the electronic data management system.
  • Advocate for the service needs of the children/families in care and foster families.
  • Monitor expenditures for children/families in care and foster families.
  • Network and function as liaison between children, foster families, and community services.
  • Manage transfers and discharge processes.
  • Participate in continuing-education opportunities in order for social work licensure to remain current.
  • Promote ABCH & FM relations and act as a liaison with local churches and associations.
  • Represent the ABCH & FM’s, vision, mission to groups, individuals, and referring agencies in a professional and objective manner.Work in a cooperative relationship with the legal system by representing the ABCH & FM.
  • Teach TIPS classes as required.
  • Recruit placements to assigned programs.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Positively participate in planning, preparing, and promoting Camp of Champions, as well as actively working in a specific role during Camp of Champions annually.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current trends and services to children and families, and the ability to relate to and work with children and adults. f
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required.
  • Ability to effectively prepare and present information to various groups.
  • Ability to work independently and with others to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work from a college or university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • Current license to practice Social Work issued by the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners, or license eligible.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hand and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends based on ministry needs.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work under stress during peak workload periods.
