Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional counseling/talk therapy to scheduled patients and/or their families following established professional standards.
- Tailor behavioral support to clients’ diagnoses while contributing to a collaborative treatment program.
- Consult with client physicians, psychologists, and other providers regarding complex cases and prescribed medications.
- Maintain accurate, timely written documentation of counseling sessions, assessments, interventions, and recommendations to meet medical record requirements.
- Provide in-service training on relevant topics for coworkers as requested.
- Maintain and update professional knowledge through continuing education, staff meetings, workshops, and participation on special committees.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and professional support skills.
- Counsel patients and families toward improved mental and behavioral health outcomes.
- Function effectively as both an independent clinician and a collaborative team member, exercising sound judgment and initiative.
- Be available to accept new assignments as needed.
- Establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with therapy staff to support treatment goals outlined in evaluating therapist plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Administrative Skills
- Demonstrates creativity, flexibility and the ability to prioritize and problem-solve.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to shape communications to the needs of the audience.
- Knowledgeable of HIPAA, state and federal regulations governing confidentiality, release of information (ROI) and record retention.
Professional Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counseling.
- Licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate (LPC-A).
- Excellent assessment and clinical counseling skills.
- Experience providing services for depression, anxiety, crisis intervention, mood disorders, attention challenges, and behavioral issues.
- Minimum of one year of professional counseling experience with special needs clients and their families, ranging from pediatric through young adulthood (preferred for LPC; supervision provided for LPC-Associates).
Physical Requirements
- Extensive standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- Lifting, positioning, and/or transferring clients, including participation in physical activities and play-based therapies.
- Ability to lift up to a minimum of 50 pounds.
