Job description

Stephanie Young Consultants provides wrap-around support services for individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health diagnoses and their circles of support. Over twenty years of direct interaction with individuals and their families, partnerships with sixteen different California State Regional Centers, seven developmental centers, eleven IMDs, behavioral support for day programs and over thirty residential homes and, interaction with the supporting community agencies has given SYC the experience and understanding to not only service the needs, but to enhance the lives of people. “Devoted Beyond Reason...for Good Reason” is SYC’s core value and mission in providing our services.

Position: BCBA or LMFT - Consultant

The BCBA/LMFT Consultant provides behavioral support for people with developmental disabilities and their circles of support. It is the responsibility of the consultant to create appropriate Behavioral Plans, by way of assessment of needs, collection of data and evaluation of effectiveness of existing plans. This position requires the ability to take initiative, excellent organizational skills, a high level of accuracy, especially with report writing, and a strong attention to detail.

Essential Functions:

Provides a variety of duties including but not limited to the following:

  • Assists in supervising the Behavior Support Services department ensuring commitment to the agency mission demonstrated by setting departmental goals and objectives
  • Works with other members of the management team to assure successful communication and coordination between all programs, and participates in strategic planning
  • Develop, train and provide current research topics in the behavioral field for BSS
  • Implement and update Best Practice, approved policies and procedures, etc.
  • Review, organize, and identify key issues in consumer collateral, such as IPPs, CDER, Physician’s Orders, and Nursing Assessments etc. Be able to pull relevant information and red flags
  • Participate in monthly Behavioral Support Service meetings including engaging in clinical discussion and presenting clinical cases for discussion.
  • Responsible for updating BSS Best Practice Manual with appropriate clinical recommendations
  • Provide direct behavioral field work in 4i Adult Residential Facilities

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of characteristics and social aspects of mental and developmental disabilities.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, leadership, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise and accurate reports, correspondence, and other job-related documents for various audiences.
  • Displays original thinking and creativity; Meets challenges with resourcefulness
  • Skill to work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to acquire and apply new knowledge or skills for work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid California license as a BCBA or LMFT
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • 2 years of direct field work supporting individuals with either a developmental disability or mental health illnesses
  • Driving Record and Background Check: Clear of all infractions

Flexible schedule - Consultant attends weekly Clinical Review meetings on Fridays 10:00am - 12:00pm and supports Behavior Specialists for quarterly and annual meetings (in-person or) Hours vary based availability and meeting schedules

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $70.00 per hour
