Experteer Overview In this role, you will partner on inherited ophthalmic conditions and emerging therapies, balancing direct patient care with research involvement. You’ll work within the Ophthalmology department to guide patient care pathways and contribute to cutting-edge genomic medicine in eye diseases. You’ll collaborate across clinicians and trainees to advance treatment options and clinical trials. This is a patient-focused, interdisciplinary position with opportunities for career growth within UPMC’s genetics ladder. Compensation / Benefits • Provide comprehensive genetic risk assessment and patient education for inherited ophthalmic conditions • Coordinate care and collaborate with clinicians, patients, and families to optimize outcomes • Demonstrate knowledge of genetic testing and order appropriate tests • Participate in outreach activities and educational material development • Contribute to research protocols, IRB-related documents, and manuscript writing when applicable • Manage EMR documentation and standardized charting for efficiency • Present at the GSPH Clinical Case Conference and contribute to professional meetings • Contribute to abstract submissions for medical society meetings • Support triage and scheduling processes for patient care • Demonstrate competence in genetic counseling duties at a level consistent with the role • Consent patients for research studies and support research-focused activities where applicable Tasks • Master of Science in Human Genetics/Genetic Counseling from ABGC-accredited program • 3 years of experience as a genetic counselor • ABGC certification and PA licensure or eligibility for provisional PA license • Strong communication and collaboration skills • Proficiency with genetic testing concepts and research protocols • Experience with EMR documentation (timely charting) • Ability to work Monday–Friday with potential remote day • Commitment to diversity and patient-centered care Key requirements • medical, vision, dental, life and disability insurance • retirement program • paid time off (PTO) • paid parental leave • wellness programs • career growth opportunities
