Music Therapist-Board Certified provides mental health services to children, adults, and their families through:

  • Implementation of the agency's mission.
  • Provides individual, group, and family mental health therapy services.
  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and evaluate music therapy treatment programs.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of therapeutic individual and group activities.
  • Provides therapy through HIPAA compliant tele-health platform when deemed necessary by agency and/or based on needs of participants.
  • Creates opportunities for participants to achieve their mental health wellness goals.
  • Provides crisis intervention as necessary to support participants. Uses the least restrictive emergency procedure when necessary to protect participants from injuring self or others. Follows intervention policies and regulations. State unusual incident standards are understood and followed.
  • Ensures all documents and participants' records are accurate and submitted timely as per agency policy and procedures and regulatory agencies.
  • Consults/collaborates with other professionals providing services to participants.
  • Refers participants to specialized mental health providers when deemed necessary.
  • Participates in agency-wide training programs and in-services and external training as assigned.
  • Participates in clinical supervision with a licensed clinical mental health supervisor (e.g., LPC, LCSW).
  • Participates as a member of quality management committees, as requested.
  • Adheres to American Music Therapy Association code of ethics.
  • Positively and professionally represents Spectra at appropriate venues.
  • Maintains certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists

Qualifications:

Must hold a certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists. Applicants who hold or are pursuing a clinical mental health license are eligible to receive clinical supervision for work hours under a licensed staff. Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the treatment of people who have intellectual disabilities and Autism. Must have a minimum of 1 year experience working with adults. Must be willing to participate in crisis management training, behavioral support training, learn safety techniques, and use safety techniques to manage challenging behaviors such as verbal and physical aggression. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to work independently as well in a team environment and follow through with projects. Computer proficiency including ability to work with email and electronic medical record software required.

Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
