JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the general supervision of the Director Safe Options Support (SOS), the Senior Community Outreach Clinician will provide comprehensive care to street homeless individuals. This position is heavily field-based and requires regular travel throughout Orange and Dutchess Counties to engage individuals living unsheltered, including those in encampments, abandoned structures, or other non-traditional living environments.

As a senior member of the Safe Options Support (SOS) Team, this role provides both direct clinical engagement and leadership. The Senior Clinician will support community outreach efforts, guide clinical decision-making, and oversee the professional development and practice of less experienced staff, primarily LMSWs and permit holders.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

  • Valid NYS LCSW license required
  • Master’s degree in Social Work
  • Must have and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license.
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant clinical experience (mental health, crisis response, supportive housing, or community-based care)
  • Previous supervisory or management experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred
  • Knowledge of Orange and/or Dutchess County resources, a plus.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct persistent outreach to identify, engage, and support individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness
  • Complete psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, and short-term therapeutic support
  • Coordinate access to services including shelter, benefits, behavioral health, medical care, and housing navigation
  • Use trauma-informed, harm-reduction, and person-centered approaches
  • Provide ongoing clinical oversight and training to team members, supporting competency development and service quality
  • Collaborate with hospitals, DSS, law enforcement, transit systems, and local service providers
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record
  • Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary case reviews, team meetings, and coordination with other SOS teams

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $86,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
