The Certified Peer Specialist serves as a role model for recovery for staff and consumers and helps consumers to develop self-help skills and build support networks. The Peer Specialist provides peer support in a manner that positively supports facility operations in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Parkwood Behavioral Health System.Benefits:

QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position.Education:High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred.Experience:Minimum three (3) years’ experience in psychiatric/mental health field preferred. (1) One year experience in negotiating the mental health system (crisis services, vocational rehabilitation, human services, etc.)Licensure/Certification:CPR Certification requiredCurrent credentialing as a Certified Peer Specialist through the Department of Behavioral Health and Mental Retardation Services preferred. Valid TN driver’s license and MVR that complies with facility policy.Knowledge:Demonstates potential and skill in delivery of patient care.
