Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and licensed healthcare professional to serve as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for our network of mental health residential programs which includes both private and public (Medi-Cal) entities. There are four locations (Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Downey and Sylmar) that the candidate will be responsible for. This a hybrid job and you can do some work from home and at the four locations. The ideal candidate must hold licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PAcc) and would idealy have experience with both county Medi-Cal programs and private insurance mental health residential programs or drug and alcohol treatment residential experience. Past experience as a program director is a plus. Must have operational role experience. This leadership role requires a comprehensive understanding of residential treatment programs, clinical operations, and healthcare management. The COO will oversee daily operations and ensure compliance with healthcare standards. The COO will be supported by an operations coordinator, and you will work together. The COO will work in tandem with the CEO to develop and carry out plans for expansion of the business in California and out of state. This role has high growth potential. You must be willing to be on call to support staff and solve crisis when it happens. The ideal candidat will have an owner mentality,not an employee mentality.
Duties

- Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the program’s mission and regulatory standards.
- Oversee clinical services, ensuring adherence to best practices in behavioral health, trauma-informed care, and medication management.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams including clinicians, nurses, and support staff to optimize patient care delivery.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, NCQA standards, and other relevant healthcare regulations.
- Coordinate with medical providers for specialized treatments such as Epic EMR systems management, telehealth services, and medication administration protocols.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives focusing on patient safety, infection control, and clinical outcomes.
- Facilitate discharge planning, case management, and utilization review processes to support recovery and community integration.
- Maintain documentation accuracy in medical records, medical documentation systems like eClinicalWorks or Cerner.
- Oversee staff training programs related to sterile processing, aseptic technique, infection control, and emergency procedures including airway management and basic life support.
- Collaborate with external agencies for post-acute care services such as hospice & palliative medicine or Geriatrics programs.
- Lead efforts in staff development related to trauma center experience levels such as Level I/II trauma centers or neonatal intensive care units if applicable.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as an LMFT, NP, or PAcc required; additional certifications in behavioral health or clinical specialties preferred.
- Extensive experience in behavioral health settings including memory care, dementia care, or working with people with developmental disabilities.
- Proven leadership experience in healthcare operations within inpatient or outpatient settings; experience in post-acute care or family planning is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, pharmacology (including psychopharmacology), and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks is essential for managing medical records efficiently.
- Experience working within compliance frameworks like NCQA standards or NCQA accreditation processes is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to manage complex cases involving acute pain management, trauma response protocols (including Level I/II trauma center experience), and specialized treatments such as dermal fillers or Botox is a plus but not mandatory. Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
