Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This position offers an opportunity to work as a Social Worker in an elementary school environment located in Waukegan, IL. The role is designed for the current school year (CSY) on a contract basis, focusing on providing essential social work services to support students social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
Responsibilities include:
- Assessing and addressing students' social, emotional, and mental health needs
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and school staff to develop intervention plans
- Connecting families with community resources and support services
- Conducting individual and group counseling sessions
- Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and challenges
- Advocating for student welfare while promoting a positive school climate
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Licensed or certified Social Worker credential recognized by the relevant state education department
- Experience working in elementary school settings preferred
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development and social-emotional learning principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, families, and staff
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with professionalism
- Familiarity with community social services and resources available in the local area
