Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.


This position offers an opportunity to work as a Social Worker in an elementary school environment located in Waukegan, IL. The role is designed for the current school year (CSY) on a contract basis, focusing on providing essential social work services to support students social, emotional, and behavioral needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing and addressing students' social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, and school staff to develop intervention plans
  • Connecting families with community resources and support services
  • Conducting individual and group counseling sessions
  • Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and challenges
  • Advocating for student welfare while promoting a positive school climate

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Licensed or certified Social Worker credential recognized by the relevant state education department
  • Experience working in elementary school settings preferred
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development and social-emotional learning principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, families, and staff
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with professionalism
  • Familiarity with community social services and resources available in the local area
