Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Level III/IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This role requires a nurse with advanced neonatology expertise, including body cooling experience, and a proven ability to care for critically ill newborns in a high-acuity environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment, technical proficiency, and compassion when caring for the most vulnerable patients and their families.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment, technical proficiency, and compassion when caring for the most vulnerable patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for premature and critically ill neonates in a Level III or Level IV NICU.
- Manage advanced ventilatory and hemodynamic support for neonates requiring intensive monitoring.
- Perform and monitor therapeutic hypothermia (body cooling) treatments following established protocols.
- Administer medications, nutrition, and fluids as prescribed while maintaining precise documentation in EPIC EMR.
- Assist in high-risk deliveries, perform neonatal resuscitation, and collaborate closely with the neonatal care team.
- Monitor and evaluate the neonatal condition, addressing rapid changes and communicating updates to interdisciplinary staff.
- Educate and support parents through the NICU experience, ensuring clear communication about care plans and progress.
- Maintain highest standards of infection control, patient safety, and compassionate care at all times.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required (non-negotiable).
- Associate degree in nursing considered only with active matriculation in a BSN program.
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York in good standing.
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required – candidates without this experience will not be considered.
- Must have experience in Level III and Level IV NICU settings.
- Body cooling experience required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required (AHA).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Required.
- Expertise in advanced neonatal care including ventilator management, IV therapy, and thermoregulation.
- Proficient in performing neonatal resuscitation and emergency interventions.
- Skilled in using EPIC EMR for documentation and order management.
- Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with families and interdisciplinary teams.
- Exceptional critical thinking, assessment, and problem-solving abilities in high-acuity situations.
- Physical and emotional resilience to work long shifts while managing multiple complex neonatal cases.
