Overview

Join a mission-driven mental health diversion program dedicated to ensuring individuals with mental health conditions receive appropriate treatment rather than incarceration. This program supports patients in navigating the legal mental health diversion system and connecting them to essential community resources for long-term stability.

Our multidisciplinary team—comprising therapists, case managers, prescribers, and nurses—meets patients wherever their care is taking place, helping them transition over time to standard outpatient settings. After orientation, physicians conduct field rounds and complete documentation remotely using web-based clinical tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field-based psychiatric evaluations and follow-up appointments, often alongside a multidisciplinary team.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage mental health conditions for adults with forensic or justice-involved histories.
  • Assess the need for psychotropic medications; prescribe, administer, and monitor treatment responses, adjusting care plans as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with therapists, case managers, and nursing staff to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
  • Provide consultation and clinical guidance on mental health assessments, treatment planning, and medication management.
  • Participate in morning reports, case reviews, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records using web-based EMR systems.

Qualifications

Required:

  • MD or DO with active medical license and board eligibility or certification in Psychiatry.
  • Experience in adult psychiatric care.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and web-based documentation tools.

Preferred:

  • Interest or background in community psychiatry or forensic psychiatry.
  • Previous field-based or outreach experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary settings.

Why Join Us

  • Meaningful work supporting patient recovery and legal system reform.
  • Flexible hybrid work environment (field + remote documentation).
  • Collaborative, mission-driven team culture.
  • Opportunity to make a lasting impact in community mental health and justice diversion programs.
