Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The postdoctoral research associate will be responsible for designing and leading experiments relating to spatial navigation across the lifespan using virtual reality, functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and other measures. They will be expected to disseminate results at conferences and in publications at peer-reviewed journals. The postdoctoral research associate will also have the opportunity to participate in and write grants (internal and external) for additional funding.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Virtual environment design
- FMRI design and analysis
- Cognitive aging experience
- Software development
- Background in statistics

UTA's Department of Psychology is home to a distinctive and talented group of individuals, including over 1,100 undergraduate majors, 50 Master's students, and 30 Ph.D. students. Psychology offers robust graduate and undergraduate programs that provide students with a solid foundation in the fundamental principles of psychology that shape thought, emotion, and behavior. At the undergraduate level, faculty members prepare students for a wide range of careers by emphasizing critical thinking skills, evidence-based decision making, and a respectful attitude towards human dignity and variability. Faculty also offer strong preparation for graduate studies in psychology and related fields, focusing on current principals and methods of psychological science and ethical considerations in the field. Psychology graduate programs in Experimental Psychology (Ph.D.) and Industrial/Organizational Psychology (MS) are tailored for students pursuing careers in teaching, research, or applied settings. The department places a primary emphasis on research, both in laboratory and applied settings; its mission is to conduct rigorous scientific inquiry into behavior and mental processes, exploring the biological, social, and psychological factors that underlie them.
