Northern Valley Catholic Social Service is a non-profit agency that provides mental health counseling, case management, support services, and housing to individuals and families in California’s Northern Sacramento Valley.

Job Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Supervising Therapist, the position's primary responsibilities are to conduct psychotherapy with clients of all ages, using various modalities including individual, family, child, and group therapy to work toward improving and restoring individual and family functioning.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing individual, family, and group therapy to adults, children, and adolescents;
  • Completing initial assessments, including diagnosis and treatment plans;
  • Completing ongoing case notes and progress and summation reports, as required;
  • Attending and participating in weekly staff meetings;
  • Providing backup for telephone crisis calls as needed;
  • Participating in training provided by the Agency;
  • Appearing in court as necessary on Agency-related cases;
  • Performing related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND PRIOR EXPERIENCE:

Candidates for this level must have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from an accredited college or university or a Master’s Degree that qualifies for licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist through the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners as specified in the Business and Professions (B&P) Code Section 4980.40, and maintain registration with the appropriate California licensing board and follow supervision guidelines.

Qualifications:

A registered CA Intern, MFT or LCSW required. Must be computer literate, have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. All eligible candidates must be currently registered and in good standing with the BBS. Experience with Medi-Cal billing, EHR, and clinical documentation.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of word processing. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature associated with biopsychosocial rehabilitation; documentation standards associated with public and private health, social service, and law enforcement agencies.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Working conditions are typical health clinic settings; involves the potential for high stress levels and exposure to hostile situations; some non-standard work hours may be required. Must work with a clinically challenging client population; must be able to maintain professional composure and clinical effectiveness.
