Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will utilize your lived experience and training to support individuals facing mental health challenges or addiction issues. Your primary focus will be to empower clients through mentorship, crisis intervention, and motivational interviewing, fostering their journey towards recovery and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one peer support to individuals navigating behavioral health challenges.
- Utilize crisis intervention and management techniques to assist clients in acute situations.
- Facilitate group sessions that promote recovery-oriented practices and share personal experiences to inspire hope.
- Assist clients in developing coping strategies and life skills necessary for their recovery journey.
- Collaborate with mental health professionals to create individualized care plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation within EHR systems regarding client progress and interventions.
- Serve as a mentor, offering guidance and support while encouraging self-advocacy among clients.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in addiction counseling, social work, and motivational interviewing.
Requirements
- Certification as a Peer Specialist is required.
- Experience in behavioral health or mental health counseling is preferred.
- Strong understanding of crisis intervention and management strategies.
- Familiarity with EHR systems for documentation purposes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor individuals in recovery from addiction or mental health issues.
- Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques is a plus.

Pay: $24.01 - $26.92 per hour
