About Job

Sunshine State Counseling Center, LLC is looking for a Florida licensed or license eligible mental health therapist (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, etc.) to join our private practice team. At Sunshine State Counseling Center we have a large child population and are looking for an individual who has experience, is passionate, and loves working with children beginning at age 4.

The mental health professional is primarily responsible for counseling our child, adolescent and adult clients, beginning at age 4, helping them to gain access to various resources, and helping clients to confront issues that are negatively affecting their way of living. Some of the common challenges our client’s face:

  • Anxiety
  • Divorce
  • Trauma & Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Abuse/Neglect
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Grief/Loss
  • Depression
  • Low self-esteem
  • Anger
  • Social skills
  • Attention difficulties (ADD/ADHD)
  • Parenting
  • Behavioral issues
  • Difficulty adjusting

We are looking for someone who exhibits strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to utilize both internal and external resources to accomplish the goals and objectives. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus but not required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Assess, diagnose and treat and develop treatment plan for client(s) with mental, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
  • Participate in crisis intervention as needed.
  • Complete all necessary documentation for billing requirements accurately and timely.
  • Collaborates with additional providers i.e. teachers, psychiatrists, physicians in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans.
  • When working with children and adolescents, the clinician will conduct and participate in parent meetings/sessions as needed.
  • Attends agency meetings as scheduled.

Education and Experience
High school diploma or G.E.D., Master Degree from accredited college. We do offer services in Spanish, so bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus. Experience, passion, and love for working with children, adolescents, and families in a private practice psychotherapy setting.

MUST be willing to work with children beginning at age 4, as this is the primary population that we serve.

Licenses and Certifications
Approved background check required. Current Florida Licensure (LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, etc.) or license eligibility through the Florida board of Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Social Work and Marriage and Family Therapy; Registered Play Therapy (RPT) certification and EMDR training preferred but NOT required.

Weekly Work Schedule:
While schedule days and times are flexible, evening availability is a requirement due to the population that we serve. There is an opportunity to work weekends if preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $54,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
