Position Summary:
The Peer Support Specialist provides support to clients in recovery by sharing lived experience, offering encouragement, and promoting engagement in treatment and aftercare. This role also has responsibility for conducting routine urine drug screens (UDS) and Breathalyzer screenings for day/night, and outpatient clients in accordance with program policy and regulatory standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide encouragement and peer-based support as directed by clinical staff.
Act as a positive role model for recovery, demonstrating healthy coping skills.
Assist with small recovery-oriented groups or activities when assigned.
Support client engagement with aftercare and community resources.
Greet and direct clients, visitors, and staff in a professional manner.
Answer phones, take messages, and route calls appropriately.
Assist with scheduling, filing, and maintaining client records.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk and common areas.
Provide clerical support for program staff as needed.
Conduct UDS and Breathalyzer screenings in accordance with facility protocols.
Maintain proper chain-of-custody procedures and ensure all testing is accurately documented.
Record results promptly in client files and communicate concerns to appropriate staff.
Ensure testing areas are prepared, secure, and compliant with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 standards.
Collaborate with clinical and support teams to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
Observe client behavior and report safety or compliance concerns promptly.
Uphold professional boundaries, ethical standards, and confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
CRPS - required (Certified Recovery Peer Support Specialist)
Bachelors degree or higher in Health Care Administration or related field preferred.
