Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in therapeutic recreation and a passion for enhancing the quality of life for individuals through engaging recreational activities. This role involves working with diverse populations, including seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those in need of mental health support. The Recreation Therapist will design and implement therapeutic programs that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized recreational therapy plans tailored to the needs of clients.
  • Conduct patient assessments to evaluate strengths, limitations, and interests.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions that encourage social interaction and community engagement.
  • Utilize various therapeutic modalities including music therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and yoga to enhance client participation.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Engage in case management activities to coordinate care and resources for clients.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust therapy plans as necessary based on data collection and feedback.
  • Provide crisis management support when needed, ensuring a safe environment for all participants.

Experience
Candidates should possess experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Music therapy, dance therapy, art therapy, or recreational therapy.
  • Home & community care experience or nursing home experience.
  • Working with people with developmental disabilities or autism.
  • Senior care, dementia care, or Alzheimer's care.
  • Addiction counseling or behavioral health support.
  • Experience with children in pediatrics or special education settings.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and patient assessment techniques.
  • Familiarity with crisis management strategies and behavior management techniques.
  • Experience in assisted living facilities or hospice care settings is a plus. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to patient-centered care, and the ability to foster a supportive environment for all clients.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $65.00 - $69.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
