Job Title: Licensed Clinical Social Worker/ Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

Work Location: Chicago, IL (60612)

Job Description:

The Licensed Behavioral Health Therapist provides comprehensive behavioral health assessments, determines safety risks, delivers supportive psychotherapy, and recommends appropriate outpatient treatment in collaboration with the ambulatory care team. This role includes conducting initial psychiatric consultations, crisis intervention, therapeutic support, and ongoing psychotherapy services across outpatient, inpatient, and emergency care settings.

Responsibilities/ Job Duties:

  • Coordinate mental health care closely with patients' primary or specialty providers and, when appropriate, other behavioral health professionals.
  • Screen and assess individuals for common mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Monitor patients in person or by phone for changes in symptoms, treatment side effects, or complications.
  • Support psychotropic medication management prescribed by the patient's providers, focusing on adherence, side effects, and treatment effectiveness.
  • Provide brief, evidence-based interventions such as Behavioral Activation, Problem-Solving Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, or other appropriate techniques for primary care settings.
  • Participate in regular case consultations with the Psychiatric Consultant and share treatment recommendations with the patient's provider, especially for new patients or those not improving as expected.
  • Mentor staff on clinical cases and professional development.
  • Facilitate treatment plan changes in collaboration with the provider and Psychiatric Consultant when patients are not improving; may include adjustments to medications, psychosocial treatments, or referrals for additional services.
  • Assess clinical information, apply critical thinking to determine appropriate courses of action, and communicate findings to patients, families, and clinical staff professionally and compassionately.
  • Pursue professional development and remain current on clinical theory, evidence-based practice, and behavioral health trends.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures for crisis response and behavioral health care while maintaining professional boundaries with patients, trainees, and staff.
  • Actively contribute to team initiatives and community outreach efforts that support positive outcomes.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a mental health-related field from an accredited college or university with a clinical concentration.
  • Active Illinois license as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), or ability to obtain licensure within two weeks of hire.
  • At least two years of experience providing individual therapy to individuals with mental illness in a mental health setting (may include experience gained during training or internship).
  • Experience with evidence-based counseling techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Problem-Solving Therapy (PST).
  • Eligible for successful completion of credentialing requirements.

Schedule/ Shift: Monday-Friday; Normal Business Hours; Onsite 5 Days a week

  • Employment: 6 month Contract to Hire (1,040 hours) - contracted probationary period into direct hire / permanent position
  • Hours: Monday-Friday; 8AM-5PM; Onsite 5 Days a Week
  • Pay Range: $80,000-$90,000 Annual Salary (Dependent on background and years of experience)
  • Requirements:
    • Master's Degree
    • License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW), License Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFP) in the State of Illinois OR the ability to obtain license two (2) weeks prior to starting this employment
    • Two (2) years of experience performing individual therapy to individuals who have mental illness in a mental health setting
