Position Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic and personal support for historically disadvantaged students who have diverse talents, strengths, experiences and needs. The counseling services provided will focus on adaptation to the campus environment, goal development, academic planning, problem resolution techniques, and other areas that promote self-sufficiency and independence. Responsibilities will include advisement to an assigned caseload of EOP students; providing information and guidance relative to career development, financial aid, housing registration and other relevant areas on a walk-in, appointment, or "group" basis; and ongoing reviews of academic progress and proactive support which may include outreach and collaboration with other campus departments. opens the door to higher education for students who might not otherwise have a chance to pursue their college dream. We are part of the Enrollment and Student Success division which supports a student's entire collegiate experience from the point of admission through to graduation. We partner with students, faculty and staff to provide a network of opportunities and services that lead to student success. Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will provide individual and group counseling as well as programming in the areas of personal, academic and career development for EOP students. Advisement services (course registration, student record reviews, academic planning, etc.) are an integral component of the position. The counselor will be expected to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of individual and group counseling sessions. The successful candidate will also serve as a liaison and/or advocate for program students with campus and community offices and assist in short and long term planning and assessment activities. A significant component of the position requires facilitating student success through proactive academic advisement and enrichment programming.
