Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting individuals facing mental health challenges by providing direct care and assistance in various therapeutic settings. This position requires a strong understanding of mental health practices and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure the well-being of patients.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of treatment plans under the supervision of licensed mental health professionals.
- Provide direct support to patients, including crisis intervention and behavior management.
- Conduct patient assessments and document medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, utilizing techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing.
- Engage in crisis management and provide support during psychiatric emergencies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust treatment plans based on patient needs.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, including ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding for diagnoses.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives as needed, contributing to data collection and analysis.
- Support patients with developmental disabilities, autism, or other special needs through tailored interventions.
- Provide psychoeducation to patients and families regarding mental health issues, treatment options, and coping strategies.
Qualifications
- Experience in mental health counseling or related fields is preferred, including hospital or clinic experience.
- Familiarity with various therapeutic modalities such as art therapy, dance therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and grief counseling is advantageous.
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology and its implications for patient care is beneficial.
- Strong skills in case management, diagnostic evaluation, and intake processes are essential.
- Ability to work effectively with children, adolescents, geriatrics, and individuals facing PTSD or addiction issues.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and experience with electronic medical records systems is required.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for effective patient interaction and documentation.
- MUST be an LPC or LCSW
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $60.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week
