SOCIAL WORKER – HARTFORD GA14

Applications are now being accepted for the position of Public Defender Social Worker – Hartford GA #14. Applicants for this position will work under the supervision of the Public Defender.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to consulting with attorneys regarding the legal disposition of criminal cases by providing diagnostic screenings, mitigation, and alternatives to incarceration; interviewing clients; obtaining and analyzing psychological, medical and social histories of clients; making referrals to agencies and practitioners for assessment and treatment; testifying in court; other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:In accordance with PA 19-164, the successful applicant is required to have a BSW, an MSW, or a Doctorate in Social Work, with an exception for anyone employed by the State prior to July 1, 2019 with a title in the Social Work series of classified State service.

The candidate may be required to possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

Starting Salary:$65,116 annually with full State benefits. Progression to Social Worker 2 after completion of two (2) years of service.
