To be a successful Addictions Counselor you must become able to do the following always:
1. Ensure a trauma informed focus on creating a safe and supportive environment for staff and those served through knowledge, sensitivity, respect, and a focus on resilience and recovery.
2. Provide addictions assessment and counseling, meeting the varied needs of the client population served. Services are provided in the residential cottages.
3. Provide court reports/testimony when necessary.
4. Provide training on addictions related subjects as needed.
5. Complete and maintain records for assigned clients.
6. Coordinate client care with community partners.
7. Follow Company Policy and Procedure and operate according to the Company’s Program Practice Guidelines.
8. Meet department goals and advance within competencies.
How you will spend your time in this job:
- 60% Addictions services including individual and group services, treatment team meetings.
- 15% Administrative functions
- 10% Participation in supervision, agency-wide and staff meetings.
- 10% Training
- 5% Other duties as assigned
This position is guaranteed 20 hours per week with flexibility.
To qualify for this job you need to have:
1. Master’s Degree Required (MSW, MFT, Master’s degree in psychology, addictions, or mental health counseling).
2. A license to provide addictions counseling in the State of Kansas (Licensed Addictions Counselor or Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor).
3. Licensed to practice with supervision or independently in the State of Kansas.
4. Experience in the addictions field required.
5. Practicum clinical experience required. Professional clinical experience preferred.
6. Competency in using a personal computer required. Must document information in an electronic medical record.
7. Have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license. Ability to enter client homes without assistance.
8. Ability to travel, driving company or personal vehicle including at night. Ability to do occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Able to walk upstairs. Ability to work flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends. Employee is subject to outside environmental conditions occasionally, inside conditions frequently, with protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change.
