Located in Grand Rapids, MI, this full-time, contract role offers the opportunity to support K-12 students as a School Social Worker throughout the academic year. The position focuses on enhancing student success by addressing social, emotional, and environmental factors impacting learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to understand student needs
- Utilize results to identify barriers affecting academic performance
- Provide counseling services to students and parents both individually and in groups
- Participate actively in Child Study Process and IEP meetings
- Act as a consultant regarding student well-being and support strategies
- Address personal challenges related to health, family, and home life impacting students
- Utilize MiPSE system for managing IEPs and special education documentation
- Apply trauma-informed approaches preferred, though not mandatory
Qualifications and Experience:
- Licensed Michigan School Social Worker credential required
- Experience working with K-12 student populations in school settings
- Familiarity with IEP development and special education laws
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
