MBC is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator to provide assistance to various healthcare services following established policies and protocols including, but not limited to: screening and scheduling all new patient appointments, obtaining records, and imaging studies, managing medical record requests, scanning, and attaching documents within the electronic medical record, patient check in and out, insurance verification and authorizations, phone/message triage and collaboration with all team members.
Essential Functions:
- Front office patient registration
- Responsible for all screening and scheduling of all patient’s new or existing based on MBC protocols
- Supplying new/existing patients with the appropriate form
- Maintenance/updates of all applicable forms for new/existing patients and medical records
- Versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
- Answers and screens telephone calls in a professional and timely manner: takes accurate messages with a high degree of professionalism and courtesy
- Exercises considerable judgement and discretion in handling requests for appointments and telephone calls
- Able to work collaboratively with multiple health professionals in a busy and complex environment using tact, diplomacy and discipline
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Responsible for all medical record requests and supplying appropriate information
- Strong communication skills with all departments within MBC and other external offices
- Composes, types and distributes professional correspondence and memoranda, E-mails and faxes, using individual initiative and as assigned
- Obtaining medical records from new/existing patient and downloading CDs of images
- Scan in all written reports with records (i.e.: pathology, mammogram, sonogram and MRI)
- Call insurance to verify new/existing patient benefits
- Collect referrals
- Collect co-pays
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of insurances/managed care
- Demonstrate competence in reacting to and handling emergencies
- Knowledge of computers and electronic medical records
- Strong charting/documentation skills
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
- The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.

- High School Diploma
- 1-3 years of medical office experience.
