About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Oncology Genetic Counselor to join our multidisciplinary care team. In this role, you will provide expert counseling to patients with active cancer, a history of cancer, hereditary syndromes, or a family history of inherited cancer syndromes. You’ll play a vital role in empowering patients and families with knowledge, guidance, and testing to inform their healthcare decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide genetic counseling to patients and families with active cancer, prior cancer diagnoses, or genetic risk factors.
- Assess patients with family histories of inherited cancer syndromes and recommend appropriate genetic testing.
- Conduct and interpret genetic testing for inherited cancer risk, including buccal swabs.
- Deliver results and risk assessments to patients via telehealth and in-person visits.
- Manage an average caseload of ~11 new patients per week, along with follow-up result disclosures.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and utilize interpretation services for patient care.
Qualifications
- ABGC Board Certification in Genetic Counseling (required)
- Illinois Genetic Counselor license (required)
- At least 2 years of oncology genetic counseling experience
- Proficiency with Epic (preferred)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care
Schedule & Work Environment
- Day shift: 5x8hr shifts per week
- ❌ No weekend requirements
- Mix of telehealth and in-person visits
