Role Overview

OneHealth is seeking a knowledgeable and professional Benefit Counselor to join our growing team. This full-time role can be based in-office, hybrid, or fully remote. The ideal candidate has voluntary benefits experience, is licensed in life and health insurance, and is ready to thrive in a structured, consistent, and highly supportive environment.

You will guide employees through their benefit options for one of our two large national clients. This is a scheduled, appointment-based position – no prospecting, no lead chasing, and no rotating product menus. You’ll focus on clear, educational benefit presentations to employees choosing between accident, hospital indemnity, disability, and life insurance products. This is not high-pressure sales. It is a process-driven, consultative role where your ability to explain and guide is valued most.

This opportunity is ideal for experienced enrollers seeking stability, structure, and consistent access to high-volume opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

As a Benefit Counselor, you’ll represent OneHealth with professionalism and care in every employee interaction. You will:

Enrollment Counseling

  • Conduct one-on-one benefits sessions via phone or video. No in-person meetings.
  • Walk employees through their voluntary benefit options using an educational approach
  • Clearly explain product offerings and help employees make informed decisions
  • Assist in completing all enrollment forms or online applications accurately

Client-Specific Support

  • Work exclusively with employees from one of two large, national clients
  • Learn the benefit structure for each client and deliver consistent enrollment experiences
  • Ensure timely follow-ups for missed appointments or pending actions

Process & Coordination

  • Maintain appointment punctuality and schedule adherence
  • Document activity and outcomes in OneHealth systems
  • Coordinate with client HR and OneHealth scheduling teams as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Active Life and Health Insurance license
  • 3 to 5+ years in benefits enrollment, voluntary insurance sales, or employee education
  • Prior experience with Aflac, Colonial Life, or similar providers is preferred
  • Deep familiarity with accident, hospital indemnity, disability, and life insurance products
  • Experience with PEOs or employer-based benefit structures is a major plus
  • Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to explain coverage simply
  • Comfortable using virtual meeting tools, online enrollment platforms, and CRM software
  • Comfortable using virtual phone systems, recording calls, and call center software.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $48,000 to $60,000 annually, based on experience
  • Commissions are a mix of flat dollar amount, percentage, and bonuses, with an all in compensation equaling $100,000-$140,000 annually.
