- Demonstrates an understanding of the Connecticut Common Core of Teaching, theConnecticut Common Core of Learning and the Connecticut Framework documents and their role in facilitation-improved student learning.
- Complies with all published and disseminated rules, regulations and policies of the Federal and State Department of Education as they apply to special education.
- Participates as a member of the Planning and Placement Team in evaluating the student's educational needs, and develops and implements recommendations of the team.
- Assists students and families when problems interfere with the student's educational functioning.
- Assists students to increase self-awareness and problem solving skills in order to function more productively in school and community.
- Participates in modifying school environment to enable students to have successful educational experiences.
- Promotes effective communication among the home, community and school, and serves as an advocate for students.
- Mobilizes available resources, and works directly with staff, families and students toward the resolution of crisis situations.
