As an independent affiliate of the Epilepsy Foundation of America, its mission is to improve the lives of people affected by epilepsy through education, advocacy, research, and connection. The Foundation provides comprehensive services such as information and referral, service coordination, counseling, support groups, school education, and advocacy. Additionally, it offers professional training programs to educate the community about epilepsy.

This is a full-time role for a Counselor and Program Coordinator located in Albany, NY. The Counselor and Program Coordinator will be responsible for providing counseling services, coordinating programs, facilitating support groups, and advocating for individuals and families affected by epilepsy. Additional responsibilities include planning social and recreational programs, maintaining records, and providing resources and referrals.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology. Master's degree preferred.
  • Counseling, supportive listening, and client service skills
  • Program coordination and social/recreational event planning experience
  • Skills in outreach, advocacy, and community engagement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or chronic health conditions is a plus
