At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare, well-being benefits, paid family leave as well as generous paid time off. Total Rewards also include banking perks, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K plan with company match and may include the opportunity to participate in our Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation plan. Associate Wealth Advisor
Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000+ annually
Position Summary
The Associate Wealth Advisor is responsible for managing existing client relationships in partnership with a Lead or Senior Wealth Advisor—or independently—by delivering high-quality financial planning, investment advice, and account management services. This role focuses on client retention, AUM and revenue growth, and referrals across business lines. As a key brand ambassador, the Associate Wealth Advisor engages in community activities, hosts client events, and supports the overall business development efforts of the Wealth Management team. This is an individual contributor role designed as a developmental path toward becoming a Wealth Advisor.
Primary Accountabilities
- Support the Lead/Senior Wealth Advisor in growing and servicing investment client relationships while managing an assigned book of business.
- May serve as the primary relationship manager for select existing clients.
- Collaborate with Financial Planners to develop and implement financial plans and provide holistic guidance.
- Respond promptly to client inquiries and recurring account needs.
- Foster long-term client satisfaction and retention through proactive service.
- Coordinate meetings, referrals, and calendar management for the Wealth team.
- Generate additional business by working with assigned banking partners and centers of influence.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Lead/Senior Wealth Advisor.
- Conduct regular client meetings and contribute to the development of tailored client service models.
- Perform comprehensive client needs assessments and deliver strategic financial counsel.
- Monitor and rebalance investment portfolios to align with market conditions and client objectives.
- Stay informed of financial industry trends, regulations, and market developments.
- Actively market financial planning, trust, and investment services to prospects and clients.
- Cultivate business opportunities through networking and referral development.
- Maintain ongoing contact with clients, beneficiaries, and referral sources to identify new opportunities.
- Identify and refer clients to other bank divisions as appropriate.
- Drive growth in revenue and assets under management (AUM).
- Partner with marketing to promote Wealth Management services via community engagement, social media, and client events.
- Represent Midland States Bank in community initiatives to enhance its public image.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1–5 years of experience in investment management and/or financial advisory services.
- Proven ability to develop, manage, and grow client relationships.
- Series 7, 65, and Life/Health Insurance licenses preferred, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- CFP® designation preferred.
- Sales-oriented, friendly, and persuasive personality.
- Professional demeanor and customer service mindset.
- Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
- Upholds a fiduciary standard and exercises discretion with confidential information.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
