Job Title: School Psychologist

Position Type: Contract

Location: Elkton, MD, United States

Remote Option: None (100% Onsite)

General Purpose of Position

Under the direction of the Director for Special Education Services and the Principal, the School Psychologist is responsible for conducting student assessments, documenting evaluation results, and providing support related to students with disabilities or behavioral, social, and academic needs. This role may involve traveling between multiple school sites as itinerant staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver services aligned with ethical and professional standards established by NASP and APA.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local policies and regulations.
  • Advocate for and protect the rights and welfare of students.
  • Conduct targeted psychological assessments.
  • Analyze and interpret assessment data; offer recommendations tailored to student needs.
  • Actively participate in IEP team meetings as a contributing member.
  • Attend and support Manifestation Determination meetings.
  • Prepare comprehensive psychological evaluation reports within mandated timelines.
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and support the development of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Support the transition of students with disabilities from alternative placements to standard school settings.
  • Consult with school staff and parents to identify needed academic or behavioral supports.
  • Provide counseling for individual students, small groups, or parents as necessary.
  • Serve as a key member on various school-based teams (e.g., Student Services, 504, Crisis, RtI).
  • Assist in the implementation of inclusive practices and other educational initiatives (e.g., RtI, PBIS).
  • Support teachers in monitoring student progress and interventions.
  • Help conduct Comprehensive Threat and Risk Assessments.
  • Plan and deliver professional development sessions in collaboration with the Office for Special Education Services.
  • Provide educational resources and support to staff and parents.
  • Be available during designated summer periods to complete assessments, reports, and other assigned tasks.

Minimum Requirements

  • Eligibility or current endorsement as a School Psychologist in accordance with Maryland State Department of Education regulations.
  • Active professional license and current CPR certification required

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $52.00 - $58.00 per hour
