As an Admissions Counselor, you'll be more than just a recruiter-you'll be a mentor, a guide, and the face of South Dakota Mines for many prospective students and their families. You'll manage a specific recruitment territory, leading students through every stage of the admissions process, from initial contact to enrollment. Whether you're on campus or representing us at a college fair, you'll play a crucial role in shaping our student body. This position will be based in Minnesota, will work with students throughout the entire college search - from inquiry to matriculation, and will represent South Dakota Mines in a variety of settings. This is a benefited, full-time remote position, working 40 hours per week. There is an option to structure the role as either a year-round position (12 months per year) at 40 hours per week or as an 11-month position working 40 hours per week with the month of July off (June 22 to July 21).What You'll Do
  • Connect with prospective students, their families, school counselors, and teachers to share the unique advantages of a South Dakota Mines education.
  • Provide detailed information about our programs, campus life, and financial aid options.
  • Travel to high schools, college fairs, and other events to meet with potential students.
  • Host prospective students and their families when they schedule a visit to the South Dakota Mines campus, ensuring they have a memorable and informative experience.
  • Assist students through the application and enrollment process, ensuring they have a smooth transition to university life.
  • Record, track, and analyze student and visit data in our Slate CRM.
Position Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required
  • A driver's license is required
  • The successful candidate must be able to effectively and positively communicate accurate information about the university, financial aid, university majors and programs, and give recommendations to and counsel prospective students and their families.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a team-orientated spirit and outstanding customer service skills along with the ability to work with a variety of constituents.
  • The candidate must have outstanding communication skills and demonstrate organizational and time management skills as well as a strong work-ethic.
  • The ability to work flexible hours, travel overnight and to work evening and weekend hours is necessary.
