Social Worker - HUD-VASH Case Management

The position is assigned to the HealthCare for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) program in the Housing and Urban Development - VA Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program and is located in the Fayetteville, NC VA Coastal HealthCare System in Fayetteville, NC. HUD-VASH is an intensive case management program for chronically homeless veterans aimed at providing psychosocial and life skills services to veterans while residing in stable housing through HUD's Section 8 voucher system. The incumbent will:

1. Provide HUD-VASH case management services to enrolled veterans.

2. Lead the Housing Entry Team utilizing the Critical Time Intervention model.

3. Complete assessments and document in CPRS and HOMES.

4. Provide a full range of social work services.

5. Review agreements between Section 8, landlords, Public Housing Authorities, and the VA.

6. Perform site visits of HUD-VASH apartments.

7. Verify the veteran's status and eligibility.

8. Coordinate care and serve as an advocate for veterans.

9. Comply with criminal conflict of interest laws.

10. Participate in program planning and development.

11. Participate in the orientation and training of graduate social work interns and new HCHV or HUD-VASH personnel.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year.

Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full-time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy.

Retirement: Traditional federal pension and federal 401K.

Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care.

Requirements:

Must have a state-issued driver's license.

Must be a U.S. citizen.

Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Must be proficient in written and spoken English.

Must pass pre-employment physical examination.

Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

United States Citizenship.

English Language Proficiency.

Education: Master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.

Grade Determinations:

Senior Social Worker, GS-12:

Experience/Education: The candidate must have at least two years of experience post advanced practice clinical licensure and should be in a specialized area of social work practice of which, one year must be equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.

Licensure/Certification: Senior social workers must be licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level.

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Skill in a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities.

Ability to incorporate complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment.

Knowledge in developing and implementing methods for measuring effectiveness of social work practice.

Ability to provide specialized consultation to colleagues and students.

Ability to expand clinical knowledge in the social work profession.
