Through the healing power of art-making, imagination, expression, and community, we aim to foster communal well-being + personal growth and resilience. We provide art therapy to individuals, families, and communities who could not otherwise access these services. Art Therapy for All seeks to advance the field of art therapy by creating greater public understanding about art therapy as well engaging in advocacy initiatives to further the profession.


Role Description

This is a half or full-time on-site or virtual role for a credentialed Art Therapist. Located in Los Angeles, CA and/or virtually; or virtually if licensed in Washington state. The Art Therapist will be responsible for conducting individual, couples, & family art therapy. They may provide community and organizational or institutional therapeutic art-making or art therapy sessions. The Art Therapist will work closely with the Executive Director and will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary board to advance the mission of the organization.


Qualifications

  • Master degree in Art Therapy, Expressive or Creative Arts Therapies, Music Therapy (BA), or Dance & Movement Therapy from an accredited institution
  • Credentialed (ATR-P, ATR, ATR-BC) or similar
  • Licensed as a counselor or MFT (associate level accepted) in WA and/or CA
  • 1 year clinical experience serving diverse clientele (internship acceptable)
  • Strong knowledge of multicultural competencies & cultural humility in art therapy
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Willing to be trained in Museum Art Therapy and other interventions
  • Ability to be supervised and accept feedback
  • Has an active personal art practice
  • Has 10+ years work experience (in any position)
  • Has a computer with reliable internet
  • Has reliable means of transportation and is able to travel for events
  • Is able to work legally in the United States


Desired Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish or other)
  • Is social justice oriented
  • Familiarity with LGBTQ+ and disability justice issues a plus
  • Grant-writing or fundraising experience a major plus
  • Has or has had a private practice or is willing to learn how
  • Experience working in a community setting and/or doing political activism
  • Member of U.S. professional organization (e.g., AATA)
