Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Professional Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mental health counseling and a passion for helping individuals navigate their challenges. This role involves providing therapeutic support to clients through various modalities, including individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and specialized therapies. The counselor will work with diverse populations, including children, families, and individuals.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and diagnostic evaluations to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide psychotherapy using evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Psychodynamic Therapy.
- Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions focused on various issues including grief, addiction, PTSD, and behavioral health.
- Implement crisis management strategies and provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure proper ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10).
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and case management.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through clinical research and training in new therapeutic techniques.
- Utilize telehealth platforms to provide remote counseling services when necessary.
- Work with clients from diverse backgrounds, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, or chronic pain conditions.
- Participate in community outreach programs to promote mental health awareness.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC) or equivalent credential. 5 years minimum.
- Experience in clinical counseling, particularly with children and families.
- Experience in clinical supervision.
- Proficiency in crisis intervention techniques and behavior management strategies.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and patient assessment protocols.
- Knowledge of various therapeutic modalities including art therapy, dance therapy, behavioral therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
- Strong understanding of social work principles and experience working within inpatient or outpatient settings.
- Ability to conduct intake assessments and develop treatment plans tailored to individual client needs.
- Experience working with geriatric populations or individuals facing gender issues is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
