Great Prairie Area Education Agency has an opening for an School Social Worker SEBH Interventionist.
Prorated contract (plus 2 orientation days initial year) depending on the agreed upon start date.

Region 1: Albia, Centerville, Chariton, Moravia, Seymour, Wayne.
Region 2: Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont, Keota, North Mahaska, Oskaloosa, Oskaloosa Christian, Pekin, Sigourney, Tri-County.
Region 3: Cardinal, Davis County, Moulton-Udell, Ottumwa, Ottumwa Christian and Seton Catholic.
Region 4 : Fairfield, Maharishi, Mediapolis, Morning Sun, Mt. Pleasant, WACO, Wapello and Winfield-Mt. Union.
Region 5 : Burlington, Burlington Notre-Dame, Danville, New London, and West Burlington.
Region 6: Central Lee, Fort Madison, Holy Trinity Catholic, Keokuk, Keokuk Catholic, and Van Buren County.
Position Overview:
The SEBH SW will partner with local schools to develop a MTSS focused on SEBH (social-emotional-behavioral health) needs of students and provide direct services to students in need.
Qualifications :
- Master’s degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program.
Responsibilitie s:
- Support school efforts to develop and implement a MTSS for SEBH.
- Participate as a member of a school-based intervention team.
- Support SEBH screening processes in schools.
- Provide consultation to general and special education teachers related to SEBH needs of students.
- Provide direct therapeutic services to students with SEBH needs.
- Assist with the planning and participate in a school social work network for those providing direct services in schools.
- Participate as part of a team in the Child Find process in order to provide an effective, efficient and economical means of identifying and serving children who require special education.
- Participate in the development, implementation and assessment of research based SEBH interventions and services.
- Support region-based core teams and/or the Challenging Behavior and Autism Team to address the needs of individual students.
- Provide professional development to AEA and LEA staff on a variety of topics which may include, but is not limited to, the following: suicide prevention and postvention, trauma-informed classrooms, adult self-care strategies, de-escalation strategies, MTSS-SEBH continuum, screening assessments, SAEBRS, YMHFA, and Non-Violent Crisis Prevention and Intervention.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel between schools/sites served.
- Normal, routine levels of activity related to bending, carrying, climbing, hearing, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, vision and walking. At times, the job may also involve above average levels of activity which can't always be anticipated.
- Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules in accordance with Federal and State law, the Iowa Department of Education and GPAEA, which includes but is not limited to developing and maintaining required documentation and record keeping.
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned the Regional Director.
