Requirements:

  • Licensed Masters Level School Social worker (LMSW)
  • Approved by the State Department of Education as a School Social Worker
  • Prefer one year of experience in school social worker practice in a school setting which can include a master’s level social work internship.


Responsibilities/Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the requirements of state and federal mandates which directly affect school social work services and special education.
  • Provide direct services to individual students for emotional and behavioral support.
  • Lead group counseling sessions for students to enhance social development of individual members and provide support in areas such as friendship, loss, stress, transition, etc.
  • Ability to complete functional behavioral assessments and develop behavior plans.
  • Participate in problem-solving teams or assist individual teachers to consider student-specific data, brainstorm possible strategies and interventions, and develop a plan of action to address a student-specific need.
  • Collect and analyze data and interpret standardized test scores.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families.
  • Knowledge about best practices for engaging students and families with emotional and behavioral concerns.
  • Ability to work successfully with students of all grade levels.
  • Familiarity with tiered systems of school-wide Positive Behavior Support practices.
  • Experience with MTSS preferred.
