About the Role:
The Counselor - Intake position at Abraxas in Chicago, IL, is pivotal in providing initial assessments and support to individuals seeking mental health and substance use services. This role involves conducting comprehensive intake interviews to gather relevant information about clients' backgrounds, needs, and goals. The counselor will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop tailored treatment plans that address the unique challenges faced by each client. By establishing a trusting relationship, the counselor will facilitate clients' engagement in the therapeutic process and ensure they receive appropriate resources and referrals. Ultimately, the goal of this position is to empower clients on their journey to recovery and well-being.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field.
- Valid state licensure or certification in counseling or a related discipline.
- Experience in conducting assessments and working with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field.
- Experience in mental health or substance use treatment settings.
- Familiarity with evidence-based practices and therapeutic modalities.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial intake assessments and interviews with clients to gather personal, medical, and psychological information.
- Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and the treatment team.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to clients as needed during the intake process.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
