Job Summary
The CSW will provide continuous, comprehensive mental health services including crisis intervention, outreach, therapy and case management to a caseload of severely mentally ill adults who are high users of psychiatric mental health services, often with concurrent substance abuse and/or health problems.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $37.56 - $50.31 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description
Established in the mid 1990s and initially located on unit 6B at ZSFG, which was then the African-American focused inpatient psychiatric unit, the KP team is the first intensive case management team in the city with an African-American/Black focus. The team serves approximately 100 clients and provides hotel rounds to a small caseload of individuals that are unable to come for medication pick up at the clinic.
Required Qualifications
CSW I: Master's degree in social work, psychology, or counseling or related field from an accredited school of social work or equivalent experience/training and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
CSW II: Master's degree in social work, psychology or counseling from an accredited school of social work and possession of the requirements necessary for application for licensure as a clinical social worker, as determined by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position

- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with others. Ability to work in a high stress, high volume area and work well under pressure and with deadlines. Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately and be detailed oriented. Able to efficiently prepare written summaries of activities, set priorities and complete reports within required timeframes. Knowledge of medical and/or psychiatric terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work as a team member in a culturally diverse setting.
- Able to lift 50lbs and climb stairs.
- Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability.
- An understanding of mental health issues and sensitivity toward mental health clients.
- Two (2) years working with severely mentally ill adults, the homeless and dual diagnosed populations.
- One (1) year experience working with African American clients.
- One (1) year experience doing community-based case management and the ability to do outreach including to SRO hotels.
- Prior related UC experience.
- Case Management experience.
- Registration/eligibility to register with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences.
