Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological and educational evaluations to assess students’ cognitive, academic, social, and emotional functioning.
- Participate actively in eligibility determination meetings and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to develop appropriate interventions and accommodations.
- Manage a small caseload of students for individual and/or group counseling to address social-emotional needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and other stakeholders to support student success and promote a positive school climate.
- Provide consultation and support to staff on behavioral and academic interventions.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with federal and state regulations, including IDEA and Rhode Island Department of Education guidelines.
- Assist in crisis intervention and response as needed.
- Stay current with best practices in school psychology and participate in professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Master’s degree or higher in School Psychology or a related field.
- Valid Rhode Island School Psychologist certification or eligibility for certification.
- Experience conducting psychological and educational assessments.
- Knowledge of special education processes, including eligibility determination and IEP development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students, families, and school staff.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and maintain organized records.
- Preferred:
- Previous experience in a school setting.
- Familiarity with evidence-based counseling techniques and behavioral interventions.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
Work Schedule
- Positions at Villa Nova Middle School and Hamlet Middle School are full-time with hours from 7:20 AM to 2:00 PM.
- The combined position at Citizens Elementary (0.4 FTE) and Woonsocket High School (0.6 FTE) requires flexibility to work at Citizens Elementary from 8:45 AM to 3:00 PM and at Woonsocket High School from 8:00 AM to 2:15 PM.
