Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive psychological and educational evaluations to assess students’ cognitive, academic, social, and emotional functioning.
Participate actively in eligibility determination meetings and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to develop appropriate interventions and accommodations.
Manage a small caseload of students for individual and/or group counseling to address social-emotional needs.
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and other stakeholders to support student success and promote a positive school climate.
Provide consultation and support to staff on behavioral and academic interventions.
Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with federal and state regulations, including IDEA and Rhode Island Department of Education guidelines.
Assist in crisis intervention and response as needed.
Stay current with best practices in school psychology and participate in professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Required:
Master’s degree or higher in School Psychology or a related field.
Valid Rhode Island School Psychologist certification or eligibility for certification.
Experience conducting psychological and educational assessments.
Knowledge of special education processes, including eligibility determination and IEP development.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students, families, and school staff.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and maintain organized records.
Preferred:
Previous experience in a school setting.
Familiarity with evidence-based counseling techniques and behavioral interventions.
Experience working with diverse student populations.

Work Schedule

Positions at Villa Nova Middle School and Hamlet Middle School are full-time with hours from 7:20 AM to 2:00 PM.
The combined position at Citizens Elementary (0.4 FTE) and Woonsocket High School (0.6 FTE) requires flexibility to work at Citizens Elementary from 8:45 AM to 3:00 PM and at Woonsocket High School from 8:00 AM to 2:15 PM.
