Overview
Turning Point is seeking a full-time Clinical Supervisor with a minimum of LCSW and CCS to join our team in our Paterson residential treatment facility. The ideal candidate will have residential treatment experience including working with special populations which include the indigent and criminal justice involved clients. The Clinical Supervisor will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality substance use disorder treatment and mental health services, and providing guidance and support to clinical staff. Alternating weekend availability is required.
SUMMARY
Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Clinical Supervisor provides clinical oversight and evaluates clinical staff in their provision of counseling services; provides counseling intervention with clients and provides training to ensure that industry best practices are adhered to; and reviews and approves clinical documentation to ensure integrity and completeness.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Provide weekly clinical supervision to assigned supervisees, for minimum of 1 hour per week (50 hours per calendar year).
- Document the clinical supervision session, and retain through records.
- Oversee diagnosing and assessment being conducted by supervisee.
- Biannual evaluation of each supervisee in the areas of personal characteristics, philosophical foundations, communication, counseling skills, adjunctive activities, and ethical standards.
- Monitor each supervisee 1:1 during group facilitation, individual counseling, clinical case presentation.
- Ensure fidelity to observe competency to evidence-based practices such as MI, CBT, BNI and Universal SUD.
- Review all treatment plans, assessments, and treatment recommendations made by supervisee, and providing supervising signature where required.
- Document clinical consultations in the client’s file.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing & accreditation requirements including organizational (Department of Health, Division of Mental Health & Addiction Services, CARF, etc.) and individual, for each supervisee (as outlined by the Division of Consumer Affairs) for each respective discipline, as it relates to clinical practice & clinical supervision.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable laws including those related to Duty to Warn, Child Abuse & Neglect, Elder Abuse, Megan’s Law, etc.
- Collaborate with management on staff development and clinician strengths.
- Complete all required (internal and external) supervision forms, applications, etc., retain proof within agency, and submit to Division of Consumer Affair where applicable.
- Responsible for knowing and enforcing Turning Point Policy and Procedure.
- Responsible for maintaining status of all pertinent licenses and credentials and participating in continuing education courses.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
· Master’s Degree in related clinical field (i.e. clinical social work, mental health counseling, substance use counseling, etc.), required, and
· Relevant supervision certificate as outlined below, required.
Licensing:
1. LCSW, and/or:
· 3 Years of practice as LCSW, and
· 20 Hour Continuing Education Creditsof post-graduate Clinical Supervision Course offered by either the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) or a sponsor approved by ASWB, or an educational program approved by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
2. LCADC, and/or:
· 1 Year of practice as LCADC, and
· Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) certification from an ICRC member board.
3. LPC
· 2 Years of practice as LPC, and A clinical supervisor's certificate (ACS) from the National Board for Certified Counselors Center
4. Dual Credential (LCSW & LCADC or LPC & LCADC), preferred.
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
5 years proven experience providing clinical supervision.
Residential treatment and special populations
Strong knowledge of clinical modalities for substance use disorder treatment including but not limited to Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Universal Screening, Brief Negotiated Interview (BNI).
