About Job

Licensed or Resident Mental Health Therapist (Flexible Hours – Supportive Team)

Job Overview
The Virginia Center for Psychological Services (VCPS) is a warm, team-oriented group private practice located in Ashburn, VA. We are currently seeking compassionate, skilled, and growth-minded psychotherapists to join our expanding team. This position is open to both fully licensed clinicians and provisionally licensed residents seeking high-quality supervision. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing therapeutic services to individuals facing various mental health challenges. This role requires a deep understanding of psychological principles, therapeutic techniques, and the ability to create a supportive environment for clients.

At VCPS, we believe in the power of personalized, evidence-informed care. Our clinicians work with individuals across the lifespan—children (ages 4+), adolescents, adults, couples, and families—to address a wide range of mental health concerns. We're passionate about creating a supportive environment where both patients and therapists can grow, thrive, and feel truly seen.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments to evaluate patients' needs, strengths, and goals
  • Deliver individual, couples, family, or group psychotherapy using clinically sound and culturally responsive approaches
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans utilizing modalities such as CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, EMDR (if trained), mindfulness-based interventions, IFS, ACT, and more
  • Provide care for a variety of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship issues, emotional dysregulation, ADHD, and life transitions
  • Maintain timely, ethical documentation in our secure, HIPAA-compliant EHR (SimplePractice)
  • Participate in case consultations, clinical team meetings, and professional development opportunities
  • For resident clinicians: engage in regular individual and group supervision with licensed supervisors

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • A master’s or doctoral degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related mental health field (required)
  • Current licensure in the state of Virginia (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or related); residents with a Virginia board-approved supervisor or seeking supervision are welcome
  • A commitment to ethical, strengths-based, and trauma-informed care
  • Strong clinical documentation skills and familiarity with EHR systems (SimplePractice experience is a plus)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for working with diverse populations
  • A collaborative mindset and openness to feedback, consultation, and continued growth
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team environment

Why Join VCPS?

  • Flexible scheduling – choose full-time or part-time, with morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend options
  • Hybrid options – In-office sessions in our serene Ashburn location with optional telehealth
  • Supportive culture – Work alongside a collaborative team of clinicians who value authenticity, kindness, and clinical integrity
  • High-quality supervision – Resident clinicians receive weekly individual and group supervision by seasoned, licensed professionals

  • Beautiful work environment – Our thoughtfully designed office offers a calming, professional space for both therapists and patients
  • Professional growth – VCPS is committed to mentoring and fostering each clinician’s development through regular consultation, reflective practice, and individualized goal-setting
