About Job

Who we are looking for:

We are not interested in applicants who do not read the entire job post. We are seeking an LCSW, LPC, or Clinical Psychologist to provide therapy to adults, teens, or children. You do not have to have CBT skills or significant experience using it unless you are a Psychologist. We will train you, and offer you as much support as you need. We are not necessarily seeking candidates who only use CBT, but we are seeking people with strong critical thinking skills who are willing to use active intervention. We are not looking for passive therapists.

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

Our approach to CBT is emotion-focused, supportive, person-centered, and heavily oriented toward building a strong therapeutic bond with our clients. CBT therapists use almost all of the same techniques that every other legitimate approach uses. It is not true that we do not address clients' childhoods - CBT therapists always ask their clients about their childhoods. Some of our clients spend most of their time with us talking about their childhoods. The following approaches/techniques all fall under the umbrella of CBT.

  • Rapport-building
  • Exploration of thoughts and feelings, including how childhood events led to current events
  • Supportive listening
  • Mindfulness
  • Progressive Muscle Relaxation (developed by CBT therapists)
  • Motivational Interviewing (which is explicitly cognitive therapy)
  • Most DBT theories and interventions
  • Journaling
  • Exposure Therapy
  • Behavioral Experiments
  • Skill-building
  • Collaborative problem-solving
  • Acceptance, when appropriate

About Our Practice: We are a small, locally-owned group practice currently comprised of 6 therapists. We have a skilled, friendly team and a collaborative, supportive environment. We are not focused on making money. Our office is near Chesterfield Town Center.

Requirements: You must be licensed, or within a couple of months of attaining your license as an LCSW or LPC.

A cover letter is required.

Responsibilities: You can chose to work with adults, teens, or children. You will have the ability to choose how many hours you work. This is an in-person position. You may have some virtual clients at your clients' request. You can choose the types of clients you would like to work with (ages, diagnoses, etc). Our practice manager works with our therapists to match them to the clients best suited for them. You will not be pressured to work with clients with whom you do not wish to work. You chose your own hours. You will be able to consult with our other therapists on a daily basis.

You will not have to deal with red tape every again.

Compensation: Our clinicians typically work between 22 an 30 hours a week ($80k - $110k). Benefits include:

  • Health insurance for full-time therapists (22 or more hours)
  • Two weeks paid leave annually after 6 months employment
  • Your own, dedicated office
  • A full clinical caseload usually within the first 60 days after credentialing/contracting.
  • We do all of your credentialing and contracting for you. We work with Aetna, Anthem/BCBS and Tricare East.
  • Free professional liability insurance
  • Free continuing education, training, and consistent, supportive supervision
  • We have the most skilled, dedicated, and experienced practice manager you will ever find. She has a chemical engineering degree from UVA and a law degree from W&L. She handles all scheduling and billing, and she is highly skilled at determining which clinicians are appropriate for which clients

A short, informal cover letter is required, listing:

  • the type of clients and the type of problems that you hope to work with
  • how many hours a week you hope to work
  • do you prefer to work in-person or virtually?

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $92,000.00 - $155,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Dental insurance
  • Flexible schedule
  • Health insurance
  • Health savings account
  • Paid time off
  • Professional development assistance
