Community Inclusion Peer Support Specialist - Full Time

As our full-time Community Inclusion Peer Support Specialist, you will provide individualized, strengths-focused community-based interactions with assigned caseload. You will help to promote the development of wellness self-management, personal recovery, natural supports, coping skills, and self-advocacy skills, and assist in the development of independent living skills for housing, employment, and full community inclusion.

This is a community-based role. If you love being out and about and seeing clients in the community, you may be a great fit! We provide mileage reimbursement!

Interested but not yet certified? We offer a Peer Support Scholarship Program in which we can assist you in obtaining certification upon hire AND cover the cost!

Pay
Starting pay is $18.00 per hour.

Schedule
FT, flexible daytime hours.

You will be eligible for medical benefits the first of the month following your first 30 days. We have options for a standard plan, as well as an HSA with a $300 initial contribution and up to a $25 per paycheck match. You would receive 10 paid holidays as well as PTO hours which would accrue at a rate of 10 hours per month. After 6 months you would be eligible to enroll in our 401(k) plan which has a 4% match. We also provide company paid life insurance, short- and long-term disability, in house and paid training opportunities, and paid credentialing. SouthLight is also an approved employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).

Job Responsibilities of a Community Inclusion Peer Support Specialist

Serves as an active member of TCL (Transitional Community Living)
Assist clients with self-determination and decision-making
Promote independent living skills through modeling, feedback, and support to individuals with housing needs
Demonstrates skills needed to live independently such as maintaining clean housing units, lease signing, learning and adherence to rules of community member is residing
Encourages self-advocacy around tenancy issues
Aid in the development of functional skills (managing medication routines, budgeting skills, learning how to access health care, independent daily living skills, etc.)
Assists the Team Lead with behavioral and substance use disorder interventions
Support individuals through navigation and participation in formal treatment services
Encourage the development of natural supports where possible

Qualifications of a Community Inclusion Peer Support Specialist

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED equivalent and be at least 18 years old.
Minimum of 1 year working with the adult MH/SA population in a community setting

Licensure/Certifications

Active Certification in NC as a Peer Support Specialist
Certification in CPR, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens training, and NCI

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Good oral and written communication skills
Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of county resources and opportunities
Great “people skills” and an ability to make lasting community connections
Ability to learn other technological recording methods i.e. EMRs/EHRs
Ability to work in a team model that changes regularly as needed
Ability to be flexible and adapt to frequent changes in workflow based on client needs and service structure
HIPPA and Substance Abuse specific confidentiality and privacy rights
