Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to helping individuals struggling with addiction and mental health issues. This role involves providing support, guidance, and therapeutic interventions to clients, helping them navigate their recovery journey. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will work closely with clients to develop personalized treatment plans and facilitate their progress towards sobriety and wellness.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate individual needs and develop tailored treatment plans.
- Provide clinical counseling using evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and behavior management techniques.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of client progress and treatment outcomes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care for clients, including referrals to additional services as needed.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions and educational workshops focused on addiction recovery and coping strategies.
- Engage in ongoing research to stay informed about the latest developments in addiction medicine and treatment methodologies.
- Support clients in developing life skills necessary for successful reintegration into their home community.
Skills
- Strong understanding of addiction medicine principles and practices.
- Proficiency in cognitive behavioral therapy techniques.
- Experience in clinical counseling or social work settings.
- Ability to conduct thorough patient assessments and develop effective treatment plans.
- Knowledge of behavior management strategies for individuals with substance use disorders.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- Familiarity with medical records management systems.
- Research skills to contribute to the continuous improvement of treatment approaches.

Pay: $32.80 - $39.50 per hour
