FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

“At Baruch College we believe that student success is everyone’s responsibility”

The Department of Psychology in the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences at Baruch College, a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY), invites applications for a doctoral-level lecturer in clinical/counseling psychology to begin in August 2026. This position is focused on expanding the curricular and internship opportunities for students in our undergraduate and post-baccalaureate programs who are interested in pursuing clinical/counseling careers. Undergraduate students served by our faculty include those pursuing a General Psychology BA through the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, those pursuing an I-O psychology BBA through the Zicklin School of Business, and those in our new (first class anticipated Fall 2026) Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program in Psychology, which has specialized tracks in both Counseling/Clinical and Industrial-Organizational Psychology. Our master’s programs include a Masters of Science in I-O Psychology, Executive Masters in I-O Psychology and a Masters of Mental Health Counseling.

The responsibilities of this position will include teaching undergraduate-level introductory and advanced clinical/counseling courses, developing our individual and group undergraduate practicum/internship courses, and supporting student career development overall. Development of the practicum course involves establishing and maintaining a database of our current placement sites, developing new local placement sites, mentoring students in the selection and completion of internships, and effectively communicating with the placement sites. The position will also involve providing leadership for our new (first class anticipated Fall 2026) Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program in Psychology who are focused on the Counseling/Clinical track. Some teaching in our Masters in Mental Health Counseling program may also be possible, but the focus will be on serving our undergraduate and Post-Baccalaureate student populations.

Lecturer faculty are considered “master teachers” who occupy full-time faculty lines focused almost entirely on teaching (some service requirements, no research requirements). Internship mentoring is considered part of this teaching component. Lecturer faculty participate as full faculty members of the Psychology Department, the College, and the University. Service may include serving on committees and contributing to projects and programs, particularly those related to teaching and learning. In their fifth year, lecturers are eligible for promotion to a Certificate of Continuous Employment (tenure-like status) based on teaching excellence and dedicated service.

Baruch College is located in the historic Gramercy Park/Flatiron district of Manhattan and is one of eleven senior public colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY).
