We are seeking passionate and dedicated Certified School Counselors at Coral Sunset Elementary School to join our team for the upcoming school year.

The Role of a School Counselor

Our School Counselors deliver a comprehensive school counseling program focused on three main domains:

Academic Development: Providing guidance on course selection, academic planning, study skills, and support for at-risk students.
Career Development: Assisting students with career exploration, college and post-secondary planning, and navigating the application and financial aid processes.
Social-Emotional Development: Delivering individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and fostering a positive school climate.

Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) Certification Requirements

To be considered for a School Counselor position with the School District of Palm Beach County, all candidates must meet the following Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) requirements for certification:

Education: A master's or higher degree with a graduate major in guidance and counseling, school counseling, or a related field.
Internship: A minimum of 600 clock-hours of a supervised internship serving school-aged students in a prekindergarten, elementary, or secondary school setting.
Certification: A valid Florida Professional Educator's Certificate in School Counseling (PK-12) or a valid Statement of Status of Eligibility from the FLDOE.
Examination: A passing score on the Florida Teacher Certification Examination (FTCE) Subject Area Exam for School Counseling (PK-12).
Background Check: Successful completion of a fingerprint-based criminal background screening as required by the state of Florida.
